SUMMARY:GRC on Angiogenesis
DESCRIPTION:Angiogenesis and Social Interactions with Neighboring Cells and Tissues in Health and Disease\nJuly 27 – August 1\, 202\nChair: Karina Yaniv\nVice Chair: Anne Eichmann\n\nApplication Information\n\n Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 29\, 2025. Please apply early\, as some meetings become oversubscribed (full) before this deadline. If the meeting is    oversubscribed\, it will be stated here. Note: Applications for oversubscribed meetings will only be considered by the conference chair if more seats become available due to cancellation \nConference Description \nThe Angiogenesis GRC is a premier\, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research\, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide\, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities\, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks\, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages\, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field. \nThe 2025 Angiogenesis GRC and GRS address the underlying hypothesis that angiogenesis relies on intricate crosstalk with various cell types and tissues\, which influence blood vessel function. Conversely\, endothelial cells secrete organotypic angiocrine factors that control and maintain tissue homeostasis\, hence understanding these interactions is important for tissue regeneration and for treating diseases involving aberrant vascularization. The meeting will stimulate the generation of new knowledge by providing brainstorming opportunities for scientists of different fields (vascular\, cardiac\, immune\, stem cell\, and neurobiology) who do not often attend the same conferences and by fostering the exchange of new unpublished data and ideas\, to jump-start collaborations that will move the field forward and shift paradigms.

Advanced molecular and human-mimicking tissue engineering techniques are revolutionizing the way we approach cardiovascular discovery research. These developments led to the inaugural “The new cardiobiology” meeting at EMBL in 2024.In light of further technical advances in the field\, the conference will repeat in 2026 and seek to unite speakers across cardiac and vascular biology\, tissue engineering as well as systems biology to continue studying cardiovascular disease. \nSession topics\n\nCardiovascular regeneration\nNovel 3D multicellular systems\nCardiometabolic complications\nMulti-organ disease\nNew translational breakthroughs\n\n\nOrganisers: \n\nJohannes Backs\nHeidelberg University\, Germany \nRoger Foo\nNational University of Singapore\, Singapore \nKristina Haase\nEMBL Barcelona\, Spain \nSara S. SUMMARY:EMBO Workshop: Building Networks
DESCRIPTION:Conference overview\nVascularisation is a rapidly growing field\, with researchers across disciplines recognising its crucial role in organ development\, disease progression\, and therapeutic delivery. Traditionally\, vascular biologists have relied on animal models to investigate key processes such as vascular signalling\, angiogenesis\, and remodelling. These models remain foundational\, however\, they do not always fully capture human-specific vascular behaviour. \nIn recent years\, advances in multicellular systems\, gene editing\, stem cell technologies\, and bioengineering have created new opportunities to study vascular biology in vitro using human cells. \nThis upcoming edition of the meeting aims to unite researchers working at the intersection of engineering and vascular biology\, facilitating discussions on how to apply cutting-edge techniques in spatial omics\, advanced imaging\, and the use of AI in vascular research. \nSession topics\n\nVascular development\, disease\, and models\nMechano-vascular biology\nMetabolism\, signalling\, and angiogenesis\nOrgan-specific models and biology\nImaging and bioengineered models\nVascular identity\, blood and lymphatics\nComputational models and AI
